95 POINTS – The Real Review, Ralph Kyte-Powell
Famous house Taittinger is known as a chardonnay-dominant Champagne producer, but to me, this delicious wine makes more of a pinot noir statement. It starts with the colour, a rather deeper salmon-pink than the very pale hue thats currently fashionable. It smells of strawberry shortcake, crme pat and finely-integrated yeasty and smoky complexities, a great mix of pinot freshness and Champagne maturity. With fine texture, good depth and substance, this is flavoursome yet elegant, finishing with just enough phenolic firmness for balance. A Champagne for food. 19 December 2021
This French champagne, Taittinger Brut Ros from Reims, has been crafted from a coupage of grapes from different crus in Champagne, France, from different vintages of wine reserves. Each of the different crus and vintages used provide a unique attribute in the final product. This champagne, Taittinger rosado, has been crafted from a coupage of 30% Chardonnay and 70% Pinot Noir. This is a slightly higher percentage of Chardonnay than is traditional for this type of champagne. The most distinctive characteristic of Taittinger Brut Prestige Ros, is that just before this champagne is bottled there is a portion of this winerys own red wine added to the coupage to give it its ros color and characteristics.
